POISE ( Principles of Inner Shift Evolution) is built on the foundation of Pulse. The heart beating is the biggest pulse in the body. Put your hand on your chest and feel your heart beating. Now feel that sense of blood flow at your belly button, in your head, in your legs, your hair. You can feel pulse anywhere in the body, and even outside the body. Unlike your breathing, you can't control it. Rather you have to surrender to it.
Now that you have fair sense of pulse in your body pay attention to your breathing. Go ahead. Feel it in your chest, your nostrils, down in your legs, in your hair. Now try to feel your pulse as you are breathing in and out.. Pretty difficult right? This serves as an example of how what can be controlled dominates that which must be surrendered to.
Surrender is a feminine quality and control a masculine quality. The masculine easily dominates the feminine. That's why in POISE the feminine comes first. In order for a balance to occur between the masculine and the feminine, the feminine must come first. The masculine must follow the feminine. This is how the two can be balanced.
This phenomenon in the body is a microcosm of the world we live in. Patriarchal society easily dominates the Matriarch and is accordingly out of balance. In order for our modern day world to come into balance, we must put the feminine first. This is not to say that the masculine must disappear. That would likewise be imbalanced.
An integrated human is someone with the wisdom and skill to ground oneself in the feminine while reaching with the masculine. It's not something we get perfectly after a few tries. I myself, a man, will always have an addiction for the masculine. I will always have to check if I'm in touch with my feminine while reaching into the experience of life. The good news is there's a magic that happens when these two bodily processes are indeed synchronized. It is a true CHI that both becomes available to us and directs us. We become a law unto ourselves and an instrument of the Divine.
